Patrick ignores authorities, he has playful personality and a special sense of humour. He uses unorthodox methods while investigating cases. He blames himself from the death of his wife and daughter and is very cautious when he works with people, because he know how terrible the consequences can be. On the surface he seems to be a happy and funny person, but in the inside he suffers. He is totally faithful to the Red John case and he won't get some rest until he finds out who Red John is.
People in the team are the closest friends he has. Lisbon is his weak spot tho. He would do anything to protect or save her. She gets into troubles because of him, but she never gives it up. And he know. He can rely on her.

Patrick loved the smell of old books. He finally sat down on the couch and let himself relax a little. They just closed another case and he was really proud of the people in his team. It wouldn't be him if he didn't feel proud of himself either. Nevertheless he was the one who figured it out and solved the case. Of course he had to use a lie and lay a trap for the suspect people but the result was more than satisfying. Not for Lisbon. She kept getting into trouble with the commander of the unit because of his unpredictable behaviour. Patrick took a deep breath and his eyes got interested into the book he was holding in his hands. It didn't take long and the door of the main office opened and Lisbon appeared in front of him.
"Oh, and the story was so exciting," he murmured when he noticed that there was someone standing in the doorway looking right at him.
"So, are you suspended?" he added a brief smile. Lisbon knew he was the master of joking.
"How many times I got suspended because of you, hm?" she answered.
"I am sorry, I don't keep track of it anymore." Lisbon didn't want to continue with this conversation. Patrick was a stubborn man. When she saw him staring into the book again only "Forget it," came from her mouth.
